![]() I guess this will be more of an introductory blog rather than me just going on a tangent about something. My name is Habiba and I will leave it at that. The previous year was an enigma of anxiety. Just like God's Word says there can't always be happiness. There are sometimes trials and tribulations. How we respond to these situations dictate if we ascend to new levels of (spiritual authority). 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5 Sometimes, I wonder if I'm the person God wants to fulfill His task. I mean, sometimes I can be so judgemental, volatile and bitter I know these traits don't align with the fruits of the spirit. However, I am reminded of the scripture - " Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 Cor. 5:17. If one dwells on this scripture alone vital changes can come. I am not saying it is instantaneous, but I have noticed that I am changing- although the flesh would love to see an instantaneous change. In a culture, where one can easily change their physical experience by extreme make overs I sometimes become impatient with the work God is doing- I mean God can take a wand and change me right? However, it is constantly shown through out the Bible that there is a trial period. Joseph did not obtain his leadership authority without having to spend some time in jail and even have his own kin plot his death. It is so easy to be consumed with our own problems and not focus on the good work God has begun. We have to endure and remind ourselves of how far God has taken us. The devil often wants us to forget the work God has done, which is why it is important to mediate on scripture. Our breakthrough is coming- but Christians often put up their white flag when they are so close to obtaining their victory. I get it, it is so much easier to be pessimistic and at times I am flooded with these thoughts just to put my cross down and admit defeat. But, scripture says: 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 2 Cor. 5:17. It is a conscious choice bringing every thought that weighs you down- but it's a choice that will fill your innermost being with content.
